Past and present clients include the US Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the California Energy Commission, the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute, Pace University School of Law, the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, the Solar Energy Industries Association, and other individual clients. Mr. Nelson is a Director of the Solar Energy Industries Association and Chair of its Solar Heating & Cooling Division, a Director of the California Solar Energy Industries Association, and a Director and Treasurer of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).  He also serves as Operating Agent for the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Programme's Solar Rating and Certification Harmonization Task 43.
